The Brennan Earrings

The Brennan Earrings were created to celebrate the birth of one of my best friends! We have been friends ever since she told me that she liked my watch freshman year of high school. :)

I felt like a beautiful amazonite stone complemented by a gold vermeil hoop would be perfect for her!

Fall 2010 Trends

It feels like summer has just begun, but soon it will be time for fall to make its entrance. If the hot summer weather has you dreaming about a cool fall breeze, then take a look at Neiman Marcus' list of Fall 2010 trends.

* Green
* Military Influence
* Lace
* Pearls
* Feathers
* Boot Wardrobe
* Pantsuit
* Capes, Vests & Ponchos
* Structured Handbags
* Fur

My favorites? Green and pearls of course! But really, when are pearls ever out of style? The word classic surely sums up any piece of pearl jewelry.

I also love that deep shade of fall green. It's the same shade as my green onyx stones that I love so much!

They are currently available in my Etsy Shop!

Missy's Necklace

I currently have an obsession with Moss Aquamarine stones. I love the light grren colors and how you can see flecks of color inside. To me these stones feel timeless and classic. Just like my friend Missy :)

For her necklace, I wire wrapped a moss aquamarine stone, added a freshwater pearl, and hung from a 24k gold vermeil hammered hoop all on a 14k gold filled chain. Since I am sure my obsession will continue, I may have to make another one for myself.

Megan's Necklace

Now that Megan has received her necklace (that's not really the only reason because I have been behind on blogging for a few weeks a couple months) I can post a picture of one of my favorite necklaces! Doesn't this necklace just brighten your day? Most people tend to associate daisies with happiness and in this necklace it not only represents the happiness in our friendship but Daisy is also the name of the cutest pup ever - Megan's beagle!

This is a 14k gold filled chain with a 24k gold vermeil daisy and a freshwater pearl.
Daisy the dog is kind of famous too, you can see her on YouTube here. :)

The Taren Earrings

For my friend Taren's birthday, I thought for a while about the perfect earrings for her. You see, she is very petite but still likes to wear big earrings (she is also a Texas girl after all).

I was drawn to these beautiful, faceted petite smokey quartz briolettes and felt it was the perfect companion for these floral circles.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to all! I feel like this week has flown by!

I got my first jewelry sale yesterday, which was pretty exciting. My stuff is on Etsy but I have been slacking recently and need to add more items.

So I'm wrapping up this week with some random jewelry news. Yesterday in China, a pearl necklace was sold for $8.7 million in a Sotheby's auction, a record price for imperial jewels. But this was no ordinary necklace. It was believed to have belonged to Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing dynasty. Behind the model is a portrait of the emperor wearing the necklace.

How's that for some pricey pearls? And that's all I've got for today! :)

The Katy Earrings

When you think of Miami, what comes to mind? The ocean, the beach, the crazy night clubs? Probably all of the above. One of my best friends is now a Miami resident and in honor of her birth I created these earrings. The sea foam green chalcedony reminds me of the sea, the gold reminds me of the beach, and of course you can wear them out to a night club!

Happy Birthday Katy :)

The Heather Necklace

My friend Heather celebrated her birthday last month. In honor of her January birth, I originally gave her a pair of garnet earrings, her birthstone. Silly me, I forgot her ears aren't pierced. So I crafted this garnet necklace instead just for her.
Three round garnets on gold filled chain.

When you think of a garnet, you probably think of a red stone right?. But did you know that garnets can come in almost every color? (There seems to be a debate on the internet over the existence of a blue garnet.) Garnets in a purplish red are called rhodolite, orange, cinnamon, or pinkish garnets are hessonite, and tsavorite, uvarovite, and demantoid are all green varieties. There's your gemstone fact for the day. :)

Winter Blues

One of the reasons I love Dallas is the mild winters. Recently, it feels as though it has been less mild and more cold and unpredictable. I know it's not as bad as up north, but I just don't have the wardrobe for this type of weather.

Luckily, these earrings work in cold or warm weather.

These moss aquamarine stones are gorgeous! Here are some more photos:

Welcome to my Jewelry Blog!

It's a cold February evening in Dallas, Texas, so what better to do than finally post to my jewelry blog?

In the coming posts, I will be bringing you photos and information about the jewelry I have currently been making.

Stay warm out there.
